Mantra means a sacred message

It is a motivating word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation.

Mantra is made of two roots: man, means ‘mind or contemplation’ and tra, means ‘to liberate’.

Transcendental sound liberates consciousness from the finite mind.

Focus on the sound of breath mind is absorbed in its manifestations and consciousness becomes free from the sensual world and becomes one with sound vibrations.

Repetition of the Mantra with the breath brings the mind into subconscious stage and further deeper into unconscious.

When unconscious is absorbed into deeper realms of mind without any external distractions, then Yantra of Breath in symbolic form manifests.

Mantra of breath is the sound vibration and the Yantra is the form.

Reflection on the Yantra is the process of concentration of mind until it reaches at its final point of illumination or ‘mind blowing experience’.

Mantra is a Healing and motivating sound that helps concentration.

Mantras and Prayers are the basic parts of Meditation.

Any auspicious work starts with Mantras and Prayers for enhanced benefits.

Similarly, it closes with Prayer by thanking for the benefits received.

Purpose and power of Prayer is immense.

To believe means to look ahead, look within, research and research the possibilities.

On the other hand, non-believing means an end to find possibilities.

It is also the righteous way assuming that despite all out efforts, the supernatural power will eventually come to rescue.

Mantras of the planets are used to gain the powers of planets for attainment of spiritual or worldly goals.

For example, if we recite planet Jupiter Mantra for facilitating its wealth giving properties, it will promote that for us.

If we seek wisdom giving properties, it will promote that, and so on.

However, we must be careful in seeking any powers as it will energize our mind for karma in that area to explore its potential.

Generally, we should primarily seek spiritual goals for mantras for the good of the universe.

The main Name Mantras

Sun: Om Sum Suryaya Namaha

Moon: Om Cham Chandraya Namaha

Mars: Om Kum Kujaya Namaha

Mercury: Om Bum Budhaya Namaha

Jupiter: On Brim Brihaspattae Namaha

Venus: Om Shum Shukraya Namah

Saturn: Om Sham Shanaye Namaha

Rahu: Om Ram Rahave Namah

Ketu: On Kem Ketave Namah

Every Prayer and sacred work will begin and end with Holy Exclamation ॐ (AUM).

ॐ (AUM)  is acclaimed as the most powerful word-symbol of Brahma, the Supreme Reality. It is known as Pranava “which pervades life”.

ॐ (AUM)  is a sacred sound and spiritual icon which is also a Mantra.

ॐ (AUM)  composed of 3 sounds. 1st sound “अ” “A” symbolises Vishnu, the 2nd sound “ऊ” “U” Maheshwar and the 3rd sound “म” “M” symbolises Brahma.

When the resounding exclamatory sound ॐ (OM) is uttered, it wards off all evils and obstacles.

It is Akash Tatwa (Sky, Space or Environment) – one of the five essential elements of nature constituting human body.

This Akash Tatwa is ruled by Jupiter Planet signifying Jeeva or Life Force – Breath.

It also denotes Paradise (Swargs) where Gods (Devatas) live as against Earth (Prithvi) where we live and Pataal or the world under earth where demons live supposedly.

This sound helps in hearing problems besides all matters connected with ‘Vata (Air & Ether or Space)’ disorders.

It helps in awakening of Kundalini which moves upwards passing through various Chakras towards self-enlightenment.

The Shanti Mantras or “Peace Mantras”

The Shanti Mantras are supposed to calm the mind of reciter and the surrounding environment besides removing any obstacles in performing the task being undertaken.

Shanti Mantras end with three times uttering “Shanti! Shanti!! Shanti!!!”

Reason for uttering “Shanti” three times:

There are sources of obstacles and troubles in following three realms:

1. Physical: Source of physical troubles and obstacles comes from external world, such as from people, wild animals, natural calamities etc.

2. Divine: Source of divine troubles and obstacles comes from extra-sensory world of angels, spirits, ghosts, deities etc.

3. Internal: Source of troubles and obstacles coming from one’s own mind and body such as diseases, pain, laziness etc.

When Shanti mantras are recited, above three troubles & obstacles are pacified.
